Young Vocal Artists of Los Angeles
Young Vocal Artists of Los Angeles is a semi-professional choir of twenty-one gifted, young singers and performers who are motivated to enhance their music skills through the choir’s involvement with recording projects and performing opportunities. Young Vocal Artists of Los Angeles believes that becoming the best recording session children’s choir in this entertainment center can lead to other performing opportunities such as on screen television appearances and live shows backing well known performers. The YVALA choir is committed to continuously developing all aspects of the group’s performance and musical skills. The choir is led by two consummate music industry professionals, Grammy ®Award winning vocalist, arranger-conductor, and vocal instructor, Darlene Koldenhoven and internationally acclaimed music producer-engineer, studio proprietor Andy Waterman. The members of YVALA possess a multi-ethnic background in the music and languages of many cultures. English, Spanish, French, Italian, Arabic, Hebrew, Farsi, Portuguese, German, Korean and Japanese are some of the languages spoken and sung by YVALA members. All members of YVALA are studying voice, ear-training, and sight-singing privately with Ms. Koldenhoven and many choir members play instruments, write their own songs, and are involved with other performing arts activities. All members can read music and are driven by the desire to continually improve their musicianship. Andy Waterman and Darlene Koldenhoven are using their considerable studio experience to make the recording process a joyful and wondrous environment for the young singers. Using the best of today’s studio technologies, the YVALA choir utilizes techniques Waterman developed working with gifted children on numerous television series including Kids’ Incorporated, Disney’s Sing Me a Story, Touched By an Angel, and hundreds of television commercials and theme park shows using children’s choirs and soloists. Adding Ms. Koldenhoven’s successes as choir director and vocal coach for the international hit movie, Sister Act and it’s sequel, as well as her luminous career as a top Hollywood studio singer gives the YVALA choir unequalled leadership in the best recording procedures and practices. http://www.youngvocalartist.com |
